25 Songs About Babies Every Father & Mother Should Hear

Many artists reflect their feelings on babies with great songs. As you might guess, most of them are directly related to their babies, the joy of having them, and how they feel about it.

When our feelings are expressed with excellent lyrics and sweet music, we find something solid to reflect our love for a baby in our minds. This list consists of touching songs that mean a lot to many. Let’s take a look!

1. Thinking of You – Dierks Bentley (2012)

We see a little poem written by an emotional father in that first song. A slow tune in country style, Thinking of You is like a confession.

While showing love to his newborn baby, Bentley also questions his life before.

All the selfish thoughts and pointless troubles seem like nothing when the baby comes. Well, that’s how most of us feel, even without noticing.

2. It Won’t Be Like This For Long – Darius Rucker (2008)

Another country melody carries charming feelings mixed with a broken heart.

Rucker depicts an exhausted father figure in the lyrics, yet he seems grateful as he knows that this is just for a short while.

A parent doesn’t want to see his baby grow fast and advises us to cherish these golden years. However, it is true that much does not stay the same when children grow up

3. To Zion – Lauryn Hill (1998)

This is a beautiful, moving tune about motherhood and our choices. All is told to the baby Zion, the grandson of Bob Marley, who also had a child in 2020.

Beginning from the stage of pregnancy, Hill says that she was at a crossroads. It was time to decide if she would dedicate her life to the baby or go with the career. She picked Zion yet gifted that beautiful song to us!

4. The Prayer – Celine Dion (2004)

Celine Dion’s operatic take is a special prayer, where she dueted with Andrea Bocelli.

The song is surrounded by orchestral strings, basically a prayer to God to protect herself and her baby. Like any mother, she wants her baby to be safe and close to herself all life.

A monumental aria for a loved baby is expressed in the most tender musical way.

5. Babyfather – Sade (2010)

In this somewhat different tune on love for a baby, we see a happy Sade seeing her partner being a great father to the newborn baby. How a father will react to a new situation is undoubtedly a critical issue for many mothers.

In Sade’s song, this life-changing experience is portrayed from her eye. She enjoys seeing how the baby is taken care of very well by a great daddy.

6. Baby Baby – Amy Grant (1991)

How about cherishing your love for a baby in early 90s style? This fun tune has a profoundly emotional lyrical setting. What we hear is a dance-tune expressing each motive of happiness.

A mother celebrates the beautiful experience while promising her that she will always be there.

7. Stay up Late – Talking Heads (1985)

This enjoyable tune is solely based on having a great time with a baby! Yes, we also need such songs because we all know that they’re magical creatures.

Lyrics are fun, while music is uplifting in every aspect. Baby is awake because of the father himself, as he can not stop playing and spending time with her! Musically it is also genius and indeed uplifting!

8. Speechless – Alicia Keys (2010)

A beautifully composed R&B soul anthem, Speechless is one of the most moving pieces sung by a loving mother.

The situation is so miraculous for Alicia Keys,” I’m just speechless baby, the poet in me has gone away” are the only things she can utter.

Yet, in the end, fortunately, her baby became a source of inspiration so we could enjoy that nice tune!

9. We’re Going to be Friends – The White Stripes

A downtempo rock romance, We’re Going to be Friends, is a young father’s most significant expression of future dreams.

The song depicts a portrait of upcoming years with impressive guitar arpeggios mixed with a soft voice.

Like many parents, Jack White has worries too, but the dream of a perfect father-daughter relationship is undoubtedly stronger.

10. One’s on the Way – Loretta Lynn (1972)

Grammy-award-winning country singer Loretta Lynn’s take on baby songs is exceptional! So the lady here is already busy with two kids, yet pregnant with an unborn, hoping that they won’t be twins in the end.

This is such a fun tune; I’ve never seen a song expressing the figure of an exhausted mother much better!

11. I Saw God Today – George Strait (2008)

The atmosphere of this other country tune will profoundly impact you. I Saw God Today is an exceptional emotional reaction given to a firstborn.

Strait’s velvet voice gets strongest when he knows that no miracle can replace the birth of her daughter.

12. Beautiful Boy – John Lennon (1981)

One of the last gifts Lennon gave to us before his departure was this sweet little song. Beautiful Boy is a heartwarming melody with a perfect musical mood.

The “tropical” kind of atmosphere is sustained by Caribbean percussion, giving us all the freshness we need.

Lennon enjoys his son’s existence and gives him a series of cute pieces of advice for the future.

13. Supernatural – Mariah Carey (2014)

Mariah Carey’s gift for her children starts with their voices of them. Right after that, we hear an excellent R&B beat and Mariah’s voice acting calm and still, unlike many of her other tunes.

The supernatural relationship she described here symbolizes the miraculous bond developed between her and her children.

14. All My Life – KC and JoJo (1998)

A fantastic tune from the R&B duo, All My Life, is set upon an excellent beat and magical atmosphere created with synths.

The fatherly love described here can not be beaten by any other kind of love. KC says he’s been praying for that so long, and we can feel how life-changing this experience has been to him.

15. Always Be Your Girl – Celine Dion (2013)

Another baby-anthem by Celine Dion, this time she chose piano as accompaniment under the phenomenal vocal of the legendary singer.

In this lullaby, we see both loving and expectant mother figures in one person. She hopes a lot for the future and, while expressing her love, gives promises to her child in a touching musical space.

16. Two Pink Lines – Eric Church (2006)

A song fully dedicated to youth pregnancy got a lot of negative reactions from many country fans as this is a taboo subject. Still, Eric Church’s tune touches on a rare issue, telling us the hardship of such a situation.

It is nothing but typical that two young people feel scared by the news. Nevertheless, it ends with the miracle of birth, and there is always a way to raise a kid.

17. My Baby – Britney Spears (2008)

Released during a hard time for Britney, this song shows us where she could find strength while fighting for her freedom.

In a slow pop tune where a child-like innocent musical background fills the air, Britney asks the baby how she could get through all this mess without his existence of him?

18. Bottle by My Bed – Sunny Sweeney (2017)

This incredibly personal slow country tune is another twist on the genre. Among all songs on the list, probably the most exceptional lyrics appear in this song.

It is about a miscarriage, and sadly, Sunny Sweeney tells how she needed one. Yet, she’s got a different life where she must follow other paths. Indeed a sad story to listen to.

19. (You’re) Having My Baby – Paul Anka (1974)

An unforgettable celebration of an upcoming baby, this duet probably was dedicated to many mothers by their lovers. This is a sweet love song where lovers cherish their feelings by putting the baby in the center.

The most critical and happiest moment for a couple is indeed the one when a man learns that his partner is pregnant. Here we see this exact moment in a musical-like fashion.

20. Sweetest Devotion – Adele (2015)

Adele’s musical poem begins in a majestic musical atmosphere. To devote ourselves to something entirely is hard. However, it turns into the sweetest of all kinds when we have a baby.

Here Adele points out a situation. Like all other mothers, she seems amazed by her strength only caused by love for her child.

21. Small Bump – Ed Sheeran (2011)

The most challenging moment for a man is to wait at the hospital for the baby’s arrival. According to the lyrics, the song’s video refers to that moment. However, there are still some months before its arrival.

Set upon rounded sweet-sounding electronic themes added with a guitar, Small Bump depicts a father feeling excited for an unborn.

22. Blue – Beyoncé (2013)

Another R&B tune where we can hear the baby’s sweet voice. The song is composed for the Ivy Blue, daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

Typical themes of women’s solidarity are also seen here. Beyoncé sees herself as a team with her daughter and believes that they can cope with each trouble as long as they are together.

23. I Got You – Ciara (2015)

Women of the R & B world seem to share their pride over their love for babies. Even from the album cover, you can understand that Ciara aims to be a strong mum for the baby.

Lyrics also suggest where the friendship theme is highlighted. Surely a touching tune where acoustic guitar and piano chords dominate your heart.

24. Isn’t She Lovely? – Stevie Wonder (1976)

Would you like to have a real baby shower experience with dance and great music? Yes, this song will give you all you want.

You’ll hear Stevie Wonder’s happiness as the music starts. It is celebrated perfectly with a saxophone that warms our hearts.

25. Sweetest Gift – Sade (2000)

In that lullaby where you hear only the mother and soft piano chords, Sade prays to the moon for the protection of her baby.

A moment probably felt by each mother every day is expressed here perfectly with the music.

When you look at your sleeping baby, you feel gratitude and all your good wishes. That’s what she also does with her incredible voice.

Final Thoughts

Here we are at the end of your song list on babies. It seems like birth or even news about the birth of a baby changed everything for artists.

It is not surprising at all. We give the greatest effort, unconditional love, and more to them. Songs about them are also our songs today, as we feel the same things too.

The miracle of birth, first steps, and a little talk with our child gives enormous joy to our hearts. Songs celebrating these unique boundaries are the most significant declarations of pure love.

For us, they are minor audible declarations of our love for our babies too! I hope you’ve enjoyed the list. See you on the other ones!
