The story of TANKARD is an exceptional one: the Thrash Metal force from Frankfurt, Germany is around since the early 80s already, spearheading a wave of German Thrash bands who became successful worldwide (Kreator, Destruction, Sodom a.o.). And while a lot of other bands struggled, split up or came back with reunions, TANKARD never had these problems. They have always been there. And they kept their worldwide fanbase for all these years, delivering one strong album after another. When you think of beer and Thrash Metal the name TANKARD is the first that will pop up for sure.

Founded in 1982 in Frankfurt, Germany their first sign of life was recorded in 1986 and indicated that not only the Ruhr district is the home of the growing German Thrash Metal scene. Since then they recorded almost as precisely as a clockwork one piece of finest thrash metal after another never taking themselves too seriously, enjoying their music and making their fans happy. Today their discography includes 14 studio records, two compilations, two DVDs and a live album.

Die Geschichte von TANKARD ist außergewöhnlich: Die Frankfurter Thrash-Metal-Formation wurde bereits in den frühen 80er Jahren ins Leben gerufen und war teil der Speerspitze einer großen deutschen Thrash-Metal-Welle (u.a. KREATOR, DESTRUCTION, SODOM…) die weltweit erfolgreich wurde. Während sich andere Bands verstritten oder gar trennten, hatte TANKARD nie mit solchen Problemen zu kämpfen. Sie waren immer da! Die Band brachte kontinuierlich starke Alben auf den Markt und konnte so die wetlweite Fangemeinde stets festigen und vergrößern. Mittlerweile hat die Band Kultstatus erreicht – wenn man an Thrash-Metal und Bier denkt, ist der Name TANKARD garantiert der Erste, der einem in den Sinn kommt.


TANKARD wurde 1982 in Frankfurt gegründet. Mit ihrem ersten Lebenszeichen (Zombie Attack – 1986) haben sie eindrucksvoll bewiesen, dass nicht nur der Ruhrpott die Heimat der aufkeimenden deutschen Thrash Metal Szene ist. Seit dieser Zeit veröffentlichen TANKARD fast so zuverlässig wie ein Uhrwerk ein starkes Stück Thrash Metal nach dem anderen. Dabei hat die Band hörbar jede Menge Spaß an der Musik, nimmt sich selbst nie zu ernst und macht ihre Fans immer glücklich. Heute beinhaltet ihre Diskografie 14 Studioalben, zwei Compilations, zwei DVDs, sowie ein Live Album.
