Writer, producer, artist and DJ KO THE LEGEND is a quadruple threat. His skills both behind the scenes and as a performer dominate all aspects of the music industry from working on tracks with Amerie, to performing with Destiny’s Child and KRS One, to being the a part of the vocal production of Britney Spear’s infamous Onyx Hotel Tour. Being immersed in so many aspects of the music industry may seem to be an almost impossible challenge, but it is most certainly what flavors and characterizes KO'simpressive and aggressive sound and work ethic, most recently, successfully launching his new single “She Wants 2 Get It” on radio nationwide to rave reviews. Growing up in a suburban town on the California central coast was a far cry from the lights of Hollywood. While being raised surrounded by the conservativeness of his community, KO THE LEGEND discovered his knack for wordplay and ear for music gaining diverse writing influences from Kanye West, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, T.I., Nirvana, and the Smashing Pumpkins. Eventually, KO knew he had to immerse himself, and his budding talents as a writer and performer, into bigger waters in order to further involve himself in the hip hop community and quickly moved to San Francisco to begin writing and producing songs for local artists in the Bay Area. After several years, KO had the talent and experience he deemed necessary to take the next step and he quickly
relocated to Los Angeles with his musical equipment in tow.
Shortly after relocating, KO THE LEGEND caught the eye of one of the nations most popular hip hop
radio stations – Power 106 – and scored an on-air spot with them. Using the station as his
platform, KO went on to become the number one freestyle rap champion, thus catapulting his status into over drive and began his career in the music business. The opportunity lead him to work with such artists as Spears, Shifty, Lil Flip, Paul Oakenfold, Samantha Marq, Dev, The Cataracs, Kara Dioguardi and more, expanding his musical repertoire and diverse artist roster. Most recently, KO has been in the studio with Jason Derulo's production team The Fliptones (Daylight) writing for Justin Bieber. KO THE LEGEND has also been a staple in producing music for MAJOR viral videos his song "SuperFresh" from his latest mixtape The 1-8-1-6 Tape (http://bit.ly/fXWW1a) was recently featured in the "Fan Boyz" episode of the award winning LXD series on Hulu. In addition to the LXD KO THE LEGEND was tapped by director Kevin Tancharoen (Fame, Glee, Mortal Kombat Legacy) to provide music for his groundbreaking online series Mortal Kombat Legacy. In 2008 KO THE LEGEND helped produced for The ACDC dance crew in their highly publicized online dance battle against Disney star Miley Cyrus, as DJ – a role he will once again reprised live at The 2008’s Teen Choice Awards. In between DJ-ing, KO is hard at work in the studio putting together Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester’s debut album, and popstar Samanth Marq's album as well as piecing together his 3rd mixtape The 1-8-1-6 Tape Vol 1.2 #KingHashTag, thus proving that a quadruple threat, excelling at every project in front of
him, is truly a force to be reckoned with.
DJ Abbico and I actually grew up together in the 805 but we never had the ability to collab because of our locations. But thanks to the magic of facebook, not only were we able to stay in touch, we could collaborate like never before! Abbico sent me the track and I knew I had a monster on my hands once I pressed play, but it took me a few months to sit down and really focus on the track, but once I did I knew it was going to be a problem!! DJ Abbico introduced me to Indecent online and he put some extra seasoning on the record and the rest is history!
